About Us

The things that make us different, make us who we are.

St Pauli Vineyard is located on 10 hectares in the heart of Moutere, New Zealand. Its vines were planted in 2001. We discovered the vineyard in 2017 when searching for our next adventure and a place to start our family. We were new to viticulture when we arrived on the vineyard, which we have named St Pauli in recognition of the region’s earliest German settlers who arrived on the St Pauli ship in 1843.

The lands simple loveliness and obvious potential cast a spell on us and with rose tinted glasses firmly in place we set about creating our new life. We now enjoy every day on the vineyard working toward growing and hand-harvesting the best grapes for our wine.

The rich and loamy Moutere clay supports our commitment to sustainably producing premium wine, no irrigation is needed and the vines are fertilised by grazing livestock. The long temperate season allows the grapes to develop naturally complex flavours, perfect for crafting our single vineyard wines.

Wine is made and bottled locally by expert winemakers. The process is kept simple and traditional. Each vintage is unique, a true expression of work and the provenance of nature.
