Tasting Notes & Reviews
Gold Medal Winner at the 2020 New Zealand International Wine Show.
Delightfully fruited and inviting on the nose showing ripe nectarine, rockmelon, fig and vanillin oak characters, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that’s fleshy and creamy. The wine offers lovely harmony and complexity, finishing long and delectable 4.5 Stars ~ Sam Kim, Wine Orbit Review
Light, bright, youthful chardonnay with apple, citrus, chalky-mineral and nutty yeast lees flavours. Bone-dry with crisp acidity that gives a mouth-tingling finish. A good food wine with good development potential. 91/100, Silver Ribbon Recommended ~ Bob Campbell, The Real Review
Our Chardonnay grapes were hand-harvested in the Moutere Hills by the St Pauli team and handled in barrel. To protect the delicate flavours the grapes were hand-picked early in the morning to avoid the increasing temperatures before being pressed and destemmed. Keeping the grapes cold helps retain important acidity and protects the delicate flavours, skins and pulp. Our Chardonnay has been aged in French oak (Barrique) for 11 months. The Taransaud barrel has an elegant, subtle influences on the wine by adding toasted oak tannin to the wine without suppressing the fruity characteristics. Our Chardonnay is filtered with fine earth.
